BRSF Networking

The BRSF is eligible to join numerous regional and national land trust and river groups. We seek input from BRSF members on which alliances they think are appropriate. Descriptions come from each organization’s literature.

LAND TRUST ALLIANCE

The LTA is a national organization of land trusts. Our sole purpose is to ensure that land trusts have the information, skills, and resources they need to save land. We provide the tools you need to be as effective as possible, including:
• Information on land transactions, legislation, and tax law;
• Liability insurance, specifically designed for land trusts;
• Popular materials and videos for landowners;
• Access to land trust experts nationwide.

RIVER NETWORK

River Network was founded in 1988 as a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to help people save rivers. RN works to build a broad based citizen movement to protect rivers and watersheds by supporting river conservationists at the grassroots, state, and regional levels. RN brings these river guardians together into a national River Network Partnership. River Network Partners gain increased and personalized access to RN programs, as well as have the opportunity to share with other river guardians the materials and strategies they have developed for protecting streams and watersheds.

AMERICAN RIVER MANAGEMENT SOCIETY

ARMS is a non-profit professional society which serves to increase communication among those who work in river management. Our mission is to:
• Promote the protection and management of river resources in order to provide continued opportunities for high quality recreational experiences.
• Foster an understanding of holistic ecosystem management.
• Promote agency and public appreciation of the social and economic benefits of integrated river resource management.
• Assist all who work in river management to keep current with new findings and techniques.

ARKANSAS ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION

“Arkansas: The Natural State,” a phrase chosen by our state for all manner of marketing reflects the abundance of natural resources in Arkansas and the pristine nature of many of our natural areas. It seems appropriate that Arkansas join the rest of the country and establish an Arkansas Environmental Education Association (AEEA).

Peaceable Kingdom Inc., a nonprofit service agency, has already established the necessary framework upon which to build the AEEA. We are planning a meeting sometime after the first of the year for interested individuals to proceed with establishment of AEEA.

ARKANSAS ENVIRONMENTAL FEDERATION

“Industries for the Environment”

We are an industry association that focuses on educating environmental managers about the latest air, water, solid waste and land use, hazardous waste, and industrial environment and safety state and federal environmental regulations. We do this through publications, workshops, seminars, and committee work. Our objectives:
• Serve as a voice for industry on environmental affairs.
• Educate industry about environmental legislation.
• Exchange information and promote cooperation among industries, conservation associations, and government agencies.
• Inform the general public of what is being done to maintain and improve the quality of our environment.
