Sheath the day: Shibumi Knifecase System

----------------------------------------------------------
Ancient Japanese masters studied techniques for construction of saya (scabbards or sheaths) for katana and wakazashi (Samurai swords) from Ho wood, which is indigenous to the Japanese archipelago. These techniques are now adapted to modern knives in the Shibumi Knifecase System.

  • Use Determines Shape

The Shibumi method uses eight separate pieces of wood, inserted in a leather exterior, with a shape determined by blade geometry and desired method of carry. Shibumi knifecases are customized to your knife's specifications, and are hand-crafted using the highest-quality materials.
  • Magnetic Fasteners

Shibumi knifecases use an exclusive retention system which avoids snaps, buckles, Velcro, or ties. Your knife is held in place with neodynium iron-boron magnets in a specially-formed leather and metal aperture. Your knife handle is left fully exposed for easy deployment.
  • Timeless Protection

To avoid any danger of corrosion, the Shibumi knifecase has a wooden interior on all surfaces in contact with the knife blade. The leather exterior never contacts the knife blade, allowing indefinite storage in the knifecase. Other leather cases cannot be used for long-term storage due to acids.
  • Knife Edge Maintenance

To prevent rattling and allow silent carrying and deployment, the Shibumi knifecase is custom-fitted to each knife. The knife edge is at no time in contact with the knifecase, assuring sharpness. We require that you send your knife with your order, to allow us to custom fit your blade.
